Increasing the hop

When using heavier ammo, you may not be able to get the hop set high enough, this guide will be usefull if you have your hop on almost or full and the bb's are still not going as far as they should.

Right, if any of you have your hop set to full and the BB's are dropping still this might be of use to you, this is more common when using heavier ammo and more back spin needs applying to keep the bb straight.

This should allow you to put enough back spin on the bb's to make it curve up, you can then knock it down click by click till it no longer curves up but flies straight for as long as possible.

First by taking the rifle down to get to the hop unit, and take apart the hopunit giving you the inner barrel and hoprubber.

Using PTFE Tape, which is available from hardware stores and plumping stores carefully wrap this around the hop rubber where the prongs from hop unit touch the rubber, becareful not to pull it tight when wrapping it around or you may risk warping the rubber and the hop will not work correctly. Once finished you should end up with something like :

Now thats sorted you might have to push a little harder to get it into position in the hop unit, this is ok, the good thing about PTFE tape is its VERY soft. You can wrap as much or as little tape around the hop rubber as you feel you need, but rember hop adjustments are VERY small, so try not to put to much on or your hop might be to high on the first couple of clicks up.
Once the unit is put back together you can see the adjustment has increased as the hop prongs are raised higher at minimal hop, this for each click up you will get slightly more hop pressure on the bb.
